GROWTH

When we experience challenges in our life, we can get stuck in the “Why?” and need support moving on to the “What now?”

Together we will work to Build/restore a sense of safety and trust in yourself and your environment.

Meet suzanne

I have been a therapist since 2015. It is my second career and What drew me to this work was the gratitude I felt for the therapists who helped me through some unbelievably challenging moments In my Own life.

My approach is to walk alongside my clients with the belief that we all have an inherent knowledge that can be found within ourselves. it is a knowing that helps us heal both physically and emotionally. working with different therapeutic modalities like somatic psychology and EMDR can help us access this understanding of ourselves.

Specialities

I work with individuals and couples to attend to grief, rediscover curiosity, and open the door for transformation

  • Even as adults, we go through developmental phases. The gates and thresholds that we traverse can be jarring, joyous or just plain challenging. As we move from one role to another our sense of identity and relevance can come into question. Finding support in community and ritual, both sacred and secular is a key component to moving forward while honoring what has passed.

  • There is a sacredness in grief work. Throughout life we will experience big deaths and little deaths and our Western Culture does little to prepare us. Grief is the painful reminder we have loved. We might grieve those things we never had. We might feel disenfranchised in our grief due to shame and a feeling of otherness. Some describe feeling a general sorrow for the world. There is also ancestral grief; a carrying of the burdens from one generation into the next. My experience as a patient advocate in hospice, as a parent who lost a child to suicide and as a cancer survivor helps me to support those moving through these difficult experiences and finding meaning and mission in the experience.

  • I work with couples in all stages of their relationships and the focus may include learning to fight fair, healing betrayal trauma, exploring healthy boundaries in the relationship, understanding healthy sexuality, clarifying values, defining what was modeled in our family of origin relative to attachment styles and exploring codependency vs interdependency.

I am a Certified Partners Trauma Therapist (CPTT) and my work is LGBTQ+ Informed (Rainbow Advocate Clinical Specialist).

  • We have an inherent wisdom within us and accessing that knowledge can lead us to wholeness and healing. My studies in medical anthropology, somatic psychology, ketamine assisted therapy and non-ordinary states of consciousness will inform our work together. Finding meaning in these liminal spaces and transcendental experiences through curiosity, humility, humor and pacing can weave loosely held “threads” of experience into a vibrant tapestry. With proper integration and support, even the most difficult journeys can be processed and a sense of well-being achieved.

  • Traumatic memories are carried in the brain and in the body. Through modalities like EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprogramming) and SE (Somatic Experiencing) an individual can move through negative beliefs, hyper vigilance, feelings of contraction and “stuckness” in the body to a sense of expansion and well-being. Emotional regulation, tolerance and resiliency are achieved and trust in oneself is restored or in some cases experienced for the first time ever. A key component to trauma resolution is finding meaning and mission in our experiences and we can work together to do just that.
